A Biography of Dov Torbin

By Ben Granoff

"...and I will testify to the validity of these (and other!) claims in a court of law"

Dov is a Taurus, which explains A LOT. He has been watching 'rated R' movies since before he could dress himself (age 16). Four years of being an unlikely B.M.O.C at UMASS Amherst left him with a degree in Engineering (I don't know what that is) and a minor (REAL minor) in Art. It was around this time that Dov begged Ben to teach him about comics, inking and the finer points of writing away messages (which Dov now excels at). Dov plays well with others and follows oral directions, but he still has to work on using grade-appropriate spelling and the correct pencil grip. Being French, Dov draws heavily from the European comics tradition and goes to nude beaches (ooh la la!). His work is not for the weak of heart and has been known to offend people who believe in God and my parents. Dov says he doesn't care if people compare him to comics genius Chris Ware (reverse psychology!) just as long as they send money.

The Unadulterated Biography of Ben Eric Granoff

By Dov Torbin

Ben Granoff was born an ugly baby back in the summer of ’83 (check facebook profile for exact date). Some say that even as an infant people knew that he was destined for greatness. They say that the poop left in his diapers held strong resemblances to some of the later works of Jackson Pollock and that Ben, at the ripe age of 11 months, had a firm understanding of postmodern abstract expressionism.

Ben took these praises to heart and by the time he entered kindergarten (the second time around) he was a full on egomaniac. Although a bright and intuitive child Ben did not take to learning in the classroom setting. Instead he spent most of his early childhood making the girls in the class scream as they watched him flip his eyelids inside out.

At the young age of 9 and a half though, puberty would cut his childhood short. His body began to go through abnormal changes. He started developing hair in unfamiliar places. Now, it is normal for a young man going through adolescence to begin growing new hair under his arms and around his testes, but Ben’s pubes were growing in other places. Specifically… in between his eyebrows! Within a few months there was no gap left at all, only a uni-pube-brow.

This early growth into manhood had a profound effect on our young hero. The once young, bright, confidant Ben was now a quiet, confused, and socially awkward nose picker. He didn’t have the nerve to approach other children anymore, and while they frolicked in their innocence before him, he was forced to retreat inward.

What did he find in there?

Besides his bottled up hatred for mankind, he also found…an artist. Ben was able to take all the pain he had been feeling inside and release it …in the form of COMICS.

The rest as they say…is history.
